negative tranfer

hi friends, this week I witnessed a clear example of negative transfer regarding young learners. I think you all are familiar with their common" I can see a ..."type of overgeneralization. as ı had stated they were always starting thieir sentences with this expression. for example, they say "I can see a blue eyes" while their teachers expect them to say "ı have got blue eyes "by showing the picture. so as you all agree the item learnt beforehand was a hinderence to learn a second structure. fortunately, after too much effort the teacher managed to teach them this new structure. however the following week this time they were expected to say "ı can see a lion"( in the picture) but they said "ı have got a lion". forgetting the previously learnt favourite structure "ı can see a ...":) I'm really curious how they will be able to distinguish between the structures.

hi, friends
Last week, I had my first teaching thanks to our nice and kind teacher. she gave me the chance for a full lesson and this was my first full-lesson instruction. so, at first I was excited and half- reluctant to take the responsibility of teaching a very new topic to very young learners. I was very conscious if they don't understand anything and how to deal with (many) student errors. however, once I was on the "stage", I forgot about all my worries and decided to do my best for them. here, I remembered the teachers style and, in a way, automatically imitated her. this was of course due to the observation in class. so I would like to state that this real class observation, namely "school experience"really works and I believe we will benefit from it very much in our profession for the first years. We all know this is the objective of the course, however, with this experience I was convinced with its reality. what do you think?

This 5 things issue:)

I have this first two things in common with Burhan: while I was a baby, they say, my family thouhgt I died and my mum started to cry. but it was not that easy to get rid of me:) and I was back:)) secondly, I haven't been to "çatı" either. thirdly, some of my friends know but I'm one year older than my class but this is because I started primary school 1 year later as I was scared of the school to register. the problem is when I started I had already known to read and write and thus I was quite bored with the things.Anyway...one more thing is that ones that can do knows that while you start riding a bike for the first time it is almost impossible not to fall down at least once, but I didin't ( zeliha, do you hear me?:)) and lastly, I have two birthdays the actual one is january 25 and the offical one is may 29.( don't ask why)

I would like to base my first impressions on the attitudes of the teachers at metu college, which I found really remarkable. firstly, when we went to the college for the first meeting, a lady's welcoming us at the entrance of the library really had a great influence on my first impressions about the school. The important thing is the lady turned out to be the vice principal of the school because, actually, one would not expect someone in her position to welcome in this way. I know it would be a very deep detail but, the teacher came in after all of us entered the library room, where we would get general information, which means she greeted all of us. Consequently, this first meeting helped me to begin to like a whole-semester experience. Secondly, after the first lesson at the college, I can say that the teachers there are really competent and they like their job, at least they don't seem to bored with the kids, which is reflected in their teaching. Finally, I hope to benefit as much as possible from these atmosphere for my career.
